Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the total number of chairs available? We have chairs to seat 200 guests.

  • How many 5 ft diameter round tables are available? We have 25 available.

  • How many 8 ft long rectangular tables are available? We have seven in the caterer’s plating area and five more for the head table or other stations.

  • What is the height of the front and back barn doors? They are each 12 feet high if measured from the floor.

  • How high are the rafters in the barn? They are 16 feet above the floor.

  • How can we hang decorations and drapery from the rafters? Scaffolding or a scissor lift may be rented from the Rental Stop on Salt Spring Island.

  • How many wine barrels do have available? We have six wine barrels available.

  • Do you have any speech podiums? Yes. we have two different podiums available.

  • Do you have hay bales for decore? Yes, we usually keep about ten on hand for this.

  • Do you supply table cloths, cutlery, glassware, or dishware? No, we do not, but it is available to rent from the Royal Canadian Legion here on Salt Spring Island and some caterers supply this as well.

  • Do you supply arbors or backdrops for the wedding ceremony? No, we do not. The choice tends to be very personal and we’ve found that most couples prefer to bring their own.

  • Is confetti allowed? No, the use of confetti, glitter and other non-biodegradable products are prohibited as they contaminate the soil and are dangerous for wildlife. Only organic and/or biodegradable products may be used.

  • Is the water in the barn potable? Yes, all of the water from the barn is potable.

  • Where is the best location for bands or DJs to set up? In the northeast corner of the barn where we have extra power outlets installed to accommodate the needs of musicians.

  • Is there a noise curfew? Yes, out of consideration for our neighbours music levels will need to be turned down and the barn doors closed by approximately 11:00pm. The dance may continue, as we want you to enjoy the festivities to the fullest, but we do ask for your consideration with the barn doors and noise levels after 11:oopm

  • Do I need a liquor license? If you plan to serve alcohol, you will need a Liquor License (you can easily apply on-line). Alternatively, you can have beer and beverage trucks brought in for your event, which is also a popular choice.

  • Do I need insurance? Yes, an insurance policy with a minimum of $5,000,000 in General Liability coverage is required for your safety as well as ours and that of your guests. Please contact us for further details.

  • Can we stay at that farm? Yes, we have several rooms available for wedding guests. It is a very popular option for the bride and her bridesmaids.

  • Is camping allowed at the farm? No, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate camping due to bylaws, but we are lucky to have three great campgrounds on Salt Spring Island.

  • Is there sufficient parking? Yes, we have ample parking for up to 200 guests.
