Wedding Package

Sunset photo from a wonderful wedding which we were lucky to host in 2022. We just loved meeting this wonderful couple, as well as their friends, and family!

Overview

Our wedding packages are for three days; typically Friday to Sunday.

FRIDAY: You will have access to the farm at 10:00 am on Friday. This gives you time for set-up, to decorate, have your rehearsal, and you can also hold a dinner or mixer if you so choose. One group even had a square dance with live music!

SATURDAY: Your wedding ceremony, reception, dinner, and dance! Many couples choose to take photos at various locations on the property both during the day as well as at dusk because we have incredible sunset water views. There are locations on the property for beautiful pastoral photos. We have a tree with a swing, as well as forest, ponds, stone walls, rock cliffs, and mature Garry Oak and Arbutus trees which all make for excellent photo backdrops.

SUNDAY: On Sunday, some couples choose to have a mid-morning get together (e.g. cinnamon buns/muffins and coffee/tea) to extend the limited but precious visiting time with their friends and family who've travelled to be here. We had offered this extra day to our son's friend who got married here, and the family and friends enjoyed this touch. So, we decided to offer this to all our wedding couples. Not mandatory, but it's been a huge hit!

The Barn

Our 8,000 sq. ft. rustic barn is large enough to easily accommodate up to 200 guests. It's perfect for the dancers in your crowd; we recognize this is a very special event in one's life and should be celebrated well!

We are surrounded by mountains, forests and fields and a gorgeous view of the ocean from our property. The barn is lovely, rustic, and big enough to give you options for anything you'd like to plan. When all four doors are open, it brings the outside in, but there is also lots of space around the barn for guests to mingle and play games (if you wish to set some up) and just enjoy the west coast beauty. At night we have Edison lights in the ceiling of the barn, around the outside of the barn, and in the vicinity of the barn to add a magical feel.

The comment we get most often from couples that come to tour our venue is, "Your barn is gorgeous and a blank canvas that we can decorate as little or as much as we’d like." So, you can make it "glam" or keep it very “casual" and everything in between as well. We've had a Mexican themed wedding with a band leading the procession to the wedding ceremony and we’ve had an Italian themed wedding with an accordionist playing while the guests enjoyed their Italian dinner. We've had Boho inspired weddings and glamorous events as well.  Whatever you can envision – can be created!

Amenities

Included in the venue rental fee is a speech podium, 5’ round tables and white padded chairs which seat up to 200, rectangular tables for the head tables, six large oak wine barrels for decor and for guests to set their glasses down while they mingle. There is warm lighting throughout the rafters as well as  lawn for additional visiting or games (croquet, bocce ball, bean bag toss, et cetera).  There is ample guest parking on our farm.

Licenses & Insurance

If you plan to serve alcohol, you will need a Liquor License (you can easily apply on-line). Alternatively, you can have beer and beverage trucks brought in for your event, which is also a popular choice. Additionally, an insurance policy for liquor liability and a minimum of $5,000,000 in General Liability coverage is required for your safety as well as ours and that of your guests.

Food & Drink

The barn has mobile granite bars for drink service, as well as a caterer’s plating/serving area. Please note, this is not a commercial kitchen. Most caterers come with their own mobile vehicles. We provide a three-basin stainless steel sink, tables, fridges, a chest freezer and a stove to keep things warm. Additionally, if you’d like to BBQ we have a 6’ outdoor grill which is available to rent (covering cost of propane and cleaning).

Bed & Breakfast

We can include on location B&B for wedding guests. It's been very popular for the bride and bridesmaids to stay upstairs to have a last night together and then in the morning they can get their make-up and hair styled. I make crepes with fresh fruit and whipping cream for them. It's just a fun time for the bride and her bridesmaids to share before the wedding!

Next Steps

First, we schedule a time for you to come view the farm. The tour usually takes an hour to show you everything and answer your questions as well as provide you time to walk around on your own and take any photos you wish to take. This way you can see if our wedding venue feels right to you both. We want to ensure that you can envision your wedding celebration taking place here surrounded by all your family and friends!

When you are ready to book, you’ll sign the Venue Rental Agreement and pay a deposit to hold your wedding date for you. (The deposit may be paid either via credit card or bank transfer).

Please Note: Unfortunately, we cannot hold your date, or price, without a signed agreement and deposit. We like to keep some weekends for our family and friends; and we only accept a limited number of weddings per season. This is a big decision, so please don’t feel pressured. We just want to be transparent about availability and prices.

Once the Venue Rental Agreement is signed and the deposit is paid, we send you a "Wedding Vendor List" with vendors that we've gotten to know, and we feel confident are professional and care about their product or service for our couples. Vendors like caterers, florists, officiants, DJs, bands, photographers, etc.

We also provide a list of "Salt Spring Island Accommodations" to help your guests find accommodations that suit them. There is everything from Chateaux Relais rated Hastings House to three lovely campgrounds and everything in between. So, something for every pocketbook!

If you like, we can also supply a Floor Plan of our barn so that you can decide where and how you'd like to place your tables and chairs and other stations throughout the barn. This is often helpful!

… And of course, should you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out as Bryce and I are always happy to help. I’m just a phone call, text, or email away....

Warmly ~ Romy
